Slate Effect Painting Tips

Using a dry stiff stippling brush a very dark grey paint is applied all over the slate work
​

​
​
When dry the face of the slate work is lightly sanded this will leave the mortar lines coloured and the face of the slate work slightly stained.

The sponge is loaded up with the required slate colour (using a brush) and then the sponge is dabbed over the face of the slate work.
​

Other colours are added to the sponge (such as blue) and dabbed randomly over the slate work. We supply and use Revell Matt Acrylic Paint For slate work we use: Mouse Grey mixed with Black for the first coat Stone Grey and Blue for the slate colour
